Description
SilentCloud™ 28 Acoustic Floating Floor Panel
The SilentCloud™ 28 Acoustic Floating Floor Panel is a high-mass sound-reducing floor board designed to improve both impact and airborne sound insulation in lightweight floor constructions. It can be used as either a structural board or an acoustic overlay, making it suitable for a wide range of new build, refurbishment, and change-of-use projects.
The panel is constructed from 18mm high-density P5 moisture-resistant tongue-and-groove chipboard, bonded to a 10mm resilient acoustic layer. This combination increases floor mass while isolating impact vibration, helping to enhance acoustic performance where standard flooring solutions are insufficient.
When installed as an overlay, the resilient layer also helps to accommodate minor subfloor undulations, reducing preparation requirements and installation time.
SilentCloud™ 28 can be laid over concrete floors, existing timber floors, or directly over timber joists up to 450mm centres (subject to correct system build-up). It is compatible with common acoustic floor constructions and is designed to support compliance with UK Building Regulations for sound insulation, including Part E (England & Wales), when installed as part of an appropriate system.
Acoustic Performance
Tested within a timber joisted floor construction with suitable ceiling detail and no flanking transmission:
-
Impact sound insulation (L’nT,w): 54 dB
-
Airborne sound insulation (DnT,w): 60 dB
-
Airborne sound insulation (DnT,w + Ctr): 54 dB
Acoustic performance is dependent on the complete floor and ceiling build-up, correct perimeter isolation, and installation quality.
