Description
StudioCore 45 – 100mm is a high-density acoustic stone wool insulation slab designed for use within internal partitions, intermediate floors, ceilings and roof constructions.
Manufactured at 45kg/m³ density, these semi-rigid slabs deliver effective airborne sound absorption, reliable thermal insulation, and inherent fire resistance in cavity systems.
This 100mm thickness is the most widely specified depth in the RWA45 range and is ideal for 100mm timber or metal stud constructions.

What This Product Does
StudioCore 45 improves:
✔ Airborne sound absorption within wall and floor cavities
✔ Cavity resonance reduction
✔ Thermal insulation performance
✔ Fire resistance within the building fabric
Its semi-rigid structure allows a tight friction fit between studs and joists, reducing air gaps that compromise acoustic performance.
What This Product Does NOT Do
This product is not a standalone soundproofing barrier.
To achieve effective soundproofing, it must be used as part of a layered system including:
-
Acoustic plasterboard
-
High-mass panels
-
Isolation systems (where required)
-
Acoustic membranes
Mineral wool absorbs sound within cavities — it does not block sound on its own.
Why 100mm Thickness Is Most Specified
100mm depth fills standard 100mm stud walls and deep joist cavities, delivering:
• Higher airborne sound reduction
• Improved fire resistance duration
• Enhanced thermal efficiency
• Greater cavity damping
This makes it the preferred specification for separating walls and floors in residential and commercial builds.
Applications
Stud Partitions (Timber & Metal)
Used between studs in internal walls requiring enhanced acoustic performance.
Intermediate Floors
Installed between joists to reduce sound transfer between levels.
Ceilings Beneath Noisy Areas
Improves cavity absorption beneath separating floors.
Drylining Systems
Supports acoustic, thermal and fire-rated wall build-ups.

Coverage & Ordering Guide
Each pack contains:
4 slabs
Total coverage: 2.88m²
To calculate packs required:
Wall or floor area (m²) ÷ 2.88 = Packs required
Add 5–10% for cutting allowance.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this better than loft insulation?
Yes. Loft roll insulation is low density and not designed for acoustic partition systems.
Can I use this on its own to stop noise?
No. It must be combined with mass layers for effective soundproofing.
Is 100mm better than 50mm?
Yes, in 100mm stud systems it provides superior cavity absorption and thermal performance.
