Description

The SilentBoard is an exceptional direct-to-wall soundproofing panel designed to add mass to low-mass walls, particularly effective on stud walls or low-quality brick walls, contributing to a quieter living environment.

This panel integrates various layers of mass into one easy-to-install product, significantly enhancing airborne soundproofing in structures with low mass. Despite its slim 30mm profile, the Silentboard serves as an ideal solution for spaces constrained by door frames or windows where other systems may be impractical.

Features:

  • Total system thickness: 30mm
  • Four layers of different high-mass soundproofing materials to block a wide range of sound frequencies:
    • 15mm Acoustic Plasterboard: Heavier and denser than standard plasterboard, adding more mass to the wall to block airborne noise.
    • 3mm Mass Loaded Vinyl: High-mass acoustic barrier to block airborne noise.
    • 9mm Closed Cell Foam: Dampens sound energy and vibrations.
    • 3mm Mass Loaded Vinyl: A second layer of high mass to further block airborne noise.

Specification:

  • Size: 1200mm x 1200mm x 30mm (1.44m²)
  • Weight: 41kg (28.50kg per m²)
  • Thermal Conductivity:
    • Plasterboard: 0.25 W/mK
    • MLV: 0.037 W/mK
    • 9mm Closed Cell Foam: 0.039 W/mK
  • Thermal Resistance:
    • Plasterboard 15mm: 0.060m² K/W
    • MLV: 0.095 m² K/W
    • 9mm Closed Cell Foam: 0.23 m² K/W
  • Fire:
    • Plasterboard: EN13501-1: A2-s1, d0
    • MLV: Surface spread of flame is tested to ISO 3795 and FMVSS 302 – Self Extinguishing
    • 9mm Closed Cell Foam: FMVSS 302

Stud Wall Airborne Acoustic Performance:

  • 52dB (DnT,w)
  • 41dB (DnT,w+Ctr) Includes correction for low-frequency performance.
  • Tested on a 100mm stud frame with 100mm acoustic mineral wool and one layer of plasterboard on each face.

Sound reduction of untreated stud wall:

  • 35dB (DnT,w) / 26dB (DnT,w+Ctr)

Improvement with treatment:

  • 17dB (DnT,w) / 15dB (DnT,w+Ctr)

Part E Building Regulations: SilentBoard can be used to meet Part E regulations on a stud wall. Installation on both sides or on a secondary stud frame is recommended.

Solid Wall Airborne Acoustic Performance:

  • 43dB (DnT,w)
  • 41dB (DnT,w+Ctr) Includes correction for low-frequency performance.
  • Tested on a single skin 100mm brick wall.

Sound reduction of brick wall before treatment:

  • 38dB (DnT,w) / 36dB (DnT,w+Ctr)

Improvement with treatment:

  • 5dB (DnT,w) / 5dB (DnT,w+Ctr)

Part E Building Regulations: SilentBoard can be used to meet Part E building regulations dependent on the construction and quality of the existing wall. For a tailored recommendation for your project, feel free to get in touch.
