Description
What is Acoustic Matting?
Acoustic matting is a high-performance and space-saving solution designed to be used directly under timber or laminate flooring. This matting saves costs, time, and floor height while maintaining a high level of acoustic performance for both impact and airborne sound.
This product is ideal for residential, commercial, and industrial projects. The acoustic matting has been engineered to reduce both impact and airborne sound when laid over a structure.
Unique to acoustic matting, it allows timber or laminate flooring to be finished directly on top of it without the need for an additional layer of ply or MDF. Provided the subfloor is level, the matting can be laid directly over it. This is due to the low deflection rate of the material, which exhibits minimal compression under load, having a deflection of just 0.4mm.
The matting can also be utilized under Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT) when combined with a dual overlay board.
The acoustic rubber mat ensures high levels of impact sound reduction and, due to its mass, offers significant airborne noise reduction.
This matting is versatile and easy to cut with a sharp long-bladed trimming knife. Simply score the surface and run the knife through it several times to avoid tearing.
When applied correctly, this matting can be installed over various floor types including timber, concrete, and screed-applied floors, as well as under lath and plaster, suspended timber/metal ceilings, or resilient bar ceilings.
