The SilentCloud Batten 55 is a composite batten designed to establish a service void and minimize impact sound transmission between floors. This batten provides structural support for floating timber or chipboard floors, making it suitable for both refurbishment and new build projects.
Constructed with 45mm x 45mm x 1800mm treated timber and a 10mm SilentCloud felt resilient layer, the overall dimensions of the batten are 55mm deep x 45mm wide x 1800mm long. It can be laid over timber or concrete floors and is compatible with underfloor heating systems.

Installation
- Lay the battens in continuous rows at recommended centers, with the felt side down. Leave a 25mm gap between the perimeter battens and the walls.
- If using SilentCloud-Felt™ 10 Resilient Layer, roll it out across the base structure before laying the battens, ensuring full coverage.
- Plan the floor layout with a 10-15mm expansion gap around the perimeters. Fix the flooring boards to the battens using SilentCloud-Bond Panel Adhesive and secure with ring nails or screws. Avoid penetrating the resilient layer. Glue the flooring boards at all teegee joints.
- Use SilentCloud-Seal 20 Perimeter Seal to fill the expansion gap, ensuring acoustic isolation from the walls. Alternatively, follow Robust Detail instructions using SilentCloud-RD Flanking Strip.
