The SilentCloud 25 Joist strips present a cost-effective alternative to composite floating flooring, delivering exceptional performance. Tailored for the construction of floating floors over timber joists in new build and refurbishment projects, these strips feature hardboard slats, offering a robust and smooth surface to support chipboard, OSB, or plywood T&G flooring boards. SilentCloud 25 serves as an integral component of a sound insulation system between separating floors.

Crafted to provide impact sound insulation between separating floors, these strips find common application in refurbishment and new build projects as part of floating floors over timber joists. They seamlessly integrate with various SilentCloud Systems, surpassing current Building Regulation requirements of Part E (England and Wales), Part H (Scotland), and Part G (Northern Ireland). Each strip comprises a double layer of 10mm SilentCloud™ resilient layer factory stapled to hardboard slats.

Installation Lay the strips end to end with the hardboard pads facing upwards. Staple through the SilentCloud into the tops of the joists using 16mm staples. Leave space for a perimeter noggin at the end of the joist runs, onto which a length of SilentCloud 25 should be installed. When planning the floor layout, leave a 10-15mm expansion gap around all perimeters. Apply a snake of SilentCloud-Bond Panel Adhesive onto each of the hardboard pads and lay the flooring boards on top in a broken bond pattern. At the same time, glue the flooring boards together at all tongue and groove joints. Press SilentCloud-Seal 20 Perimeter Seal into the perimeter expansion gap to ensure that the floor floats freely from the walls, maintaining acoustic isolation. Do not use any other fixings when installing the floating floor, as they can negatively impact performance. Skirting should be installed with a minimum clearance of two or three millimeters from the floor surface (PCT only).
